Chapter 10: Upgrade almost all weapons
Go into the room where you get the second Jewel of The Demon Seal. Kill the first 30 Beetles, then leave the room and return. There is a challenge where you can kill 60 Beetles. Kill about 57 to 58 beetles, then leave the room. Keep repeating the process to get a lot of Essences. Once you leave the room, you can run to the shop and upgrade your weapons. Continue the process until you have upgraded all the weapons you have. Once you have upgraded everything, spend the rest on supplies or armlets. After that, return to the same room that the Beetles. Kill all 60 Beetles to unlock a chest which contains a Talisman Of Rebirth.
On Chapter 12 "The Aquaduct", when you reach the point where there is a save point near the main door (which leads a huge statue of the girl, one with three water weights around her), save the game. Turn around and face where you came from. Take a few steps and turn to the left path. You will see a small door, like a elevator. Go in there. Press L2 to bring up your Karma display. The first time you go in, kill all the Scorpion-looking things and remember the total number killed. This number will appear on your Karma display. Return outside and save the game if desired. Go back in and do not kill all them. Leave when there are two to four of them remaining. Go back in and they will appear again. Repeat this as many times as desired.

Dodge all his attacks and wait for him to kneel down and charge at you. As soon as he charges, move to the left or the right. As soon as the animation is done, he will be vulnerable. Attack him with a combo and roll away. Repeat this as many times as needed.
If you have the Dabilahro at level 2 or 3, equip it and the armlet that makes Ultimate Techniques charge faster. When the battle starts, Doku will do the attack where he hits the ground with his sword and a blue wave is produced. Evade this first one then charge for an Ultimate Technique. When he hits the ground again with his sword, release the Technique. By doing this you will evade the wave and at the same time attack him. Make sure to remain far enough for him to perform the attack; sometimes he throws his sword at you. Just evade it and continue with the strategy. Repeat this until he is defeated. For harder difficulties, kill his minions first then follow the strategy.
Defeating Makasado (Samurai Horsemen)
This is a very easy Boss if you know how to deal with him. First, use the Dragon Sword. Be careful of the mages that attack you. Evade their attacks and kill some of them for essence, then perform a charged Ultimate Attack on Makasado. Make sure to roll when he is about to attack or you will get damaged.
To defeat the bone bird after the worms, equip the Dragon Sword and the Armlet Of The Sun if available. The only time you should attack is when its on the left side of the field. As soon as the battle starts, roll jump into the bottom right side of the field and block. This will protect you from its attacks. As soon as he starts running to the other side, jump roll towards him and use the Flying Swallow attack as soon as he is in front of you. You will go through him and land behind him. Get directly behind his rear and start attacking him. When he jumps, block. When he lands, start attacking him again. The X, Y, X(4) combo works very well. Keep doing this and when he lowers his head, attack it.
Defeating the electric worm
If you have a Dabilahro at level 3, this fight will be easy. When the worm appears, it will shoot two electric balls at you. Just dodge them. Stay in the top left corner of the platform. As soon as he is done, charge Y. When he come out, he will either shoot a electric ball at you or try to swipe you with his body. If he shoots an electric ball at you, just before he shoots, release Y. This will take down 25% of its health. If it body swipes you, release Y when it is about to hit you.
You will jump over it and take down 25% of its health. When facing two electric worms, use the same method. Dodge the electric balls and charge up for an ultimate attack. If both worms are out while you attack, both worms will lose 25% of their health.
Defeating the Fire Dragon
As soon as the battle begins, the dragon will lower its head for you. Have the Dragon Sword at level 3 and use the X(2), Y(3) combo on it. Then, run to one of the raise-able platforms and keep running forward towards the dragon. You will not fall off unless you jump. If the platform is raised, keep on running forward; do not get on the upper platform. When it shoots a fire ball, roll forward. When it flaps its wings, roll forward. You will receive no damage. Then, just attack when it lowers it head.
Use the same tactic as when fighting the electric worm, except when dodging its fire rings, just jump instead of rolling. You will jump through it.
Equip either the dragon sword, Kietsu, or the Unlabored Flawness and just attack him head on. When he raises icicles from the ground, roll jump to avoid them. If he tries to bite you, roll out of the way and attack him with a combo. If he swipes at you, roll away until he stops then attack him.
Get to the part where you cross the drawbridge back into Tairon. When you encounter the three big purple fiends, cut their heads off with the Flying Swallow technique. Then, do not attack them with any other attack except for your fully charged Y technique with the Dragon Sword. If you kill all three of them like this, not only will you get a Talisman Of Rebirth, but you will also get about 6,000 to 7,000 Essence from each of them. Cross the bridge, go a short distance back, then return to that location. You should be able to fight them again and get the same results.
When the large purple enemies that use the gun/sword weapon appear in the drawbridge area, equip any weapon and use the max charge technique. Because these enemies are very slow, you can hit them with the attack then move out of range to charge again. Each kill with the max charge yields about 1,300 Yellow Essence.

In Chapter 16, you can get the Dark Dragon Blade (but cannot use it). Once obtained, that is about the 1/4 chapter marker. When you resurface with Rachel's help, you will see an intermission sequence that reveals who the Dark Disciple is. He is not very difficult, especially when compared to Doku. If you die, you do not have to re-do the entire chapter. When you get to the Dark Dragon Blade, it will start to show an intermission sequence. Repeatedly press Start, and it should skip to the scene where Rachel is helping Ryu out and you can just start fighting the Dark Disciple again.
