Madden NFL 09 Cheats

In Franchise mode off-season, after you re-sign your players save the game. Enter Free Agent mode. If you do not like the free agents available (for example, if you need a top wide receiver and there are none), reload the game until you like the players that are available. You can also do this to make your division easier. For example, if you are the Jets and Randy Moss goes from the Patriots to the Rams then you do not have to worry about facing a player like that twice a season.

To score easily, get a spread set with two receivers on one side. Then, do a hot route on the inside receiver and press the Right Analog-stick in the opposite direction of the quarterback, making an outer slant. This should help you score or get a lot of yards.

When in Franchise mode and after all Week 17 games have been played (including your own), trade all of your draft picks to the worst team in the NFL. When you have traded all of them you will have the first pick of every round instead of whatever you have. Note: This only works if you have turned the trade deadline off before starting your franchise.

1. When a defense looks prepared for your current play, use a quick audible to regain the upper hand.
2. While playing through the Madden Test, be patient. Hurrying through the drills will cause your Madden IQ to suffer.
3. Use Formation Subs in certain situations to bring a new player into the game. That backup player just might have the skills needed for the current play.
4. Playing Superstar as a Tight End gives you the best of both worlds, allowing you to play as a Lineman and a Wide Receiver.
5. It’s a good idea to use your EA Rewinds like timeouts, saving them for crucial situations.
6. Enter into endzone hotspots to trigger special player celebrations.
7. Calling a short yard FB run play with a backup RB is a good way to increase the odds that yards will be gained.
8. Read the Madden Moment description carefully, sometimes a FG is good enough to complete the Moment.
9. Remember to utilize the Field Goal Block Return play whenever a long FG is attempted.
10. Importing your Fantasy Football Team from your Fantasy League gives you the chance to test your team’s mettle on the field.
11. Use the stiff arm special move to break more tackles with the ball carrier.
12. Using an All Madden or Fantasy Drafted created team will give you the advantage when playing in Franchise or against a friend.
13. When punting is not an option, use the QB Sneak play to push for those last couple of yards in short yardage situations.
14. When a play doesn’t go the way you planned, don’t hesitate. Use EA Rewind to try it over again.
15. Utilize the Player HUB to see what part of the game your friends are currently playing in.
16. Use the Player HUB to send game invites as well as Online league invites.
17. Talk is cheap. Create custom Online Leagues with your friends to see who is truly the best at Madden.
18. Use EA Sports World to help track your accomplishments in all game modes.
19. When playing multi-player games, make sure to use the Bluff Play selection to hide from your opponent which play you are about to run.
20. Create new offensive and defensive plays in NFL Head Coach 09 and import them into Madden. Your opponent won’t know what to expect!
21. Take advantage of the new tackle breaking system. Press a button or move the highlight stick while getting tackled to attempt to break out of it.
22. New to Madden? No problem. Use the Beginner Game Style for a simplified Madden experience.
23. Madden knows how good you are. When you finish a game, advance to the Virtual Trainer to improve your weaknesses.
24. Longing for the days of Maddens past? Play Madden 93 with the 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition.
25. Pause no more! Access Instant Replay, Challenge Plays, and view stats without ever leaving the playcall screen.

You can change a player's position to improve other attributes. In Franchise mode, you can make your Wide Receiver improve his blocking or your defensive lineman speed faster just by changing their position. Go to "Player Management" and change any player to another position (for example, your strong safety to a linebacker). Select that SS (who now is a LB) and do the Smart LB drill. When you complete the drill correctly, switch him back to his original SS position. The points you earn will reflect as a Smart Safety.

Go to "My Madden", then to "Rosters". Go to "Player Management" then to "NFL Greats". Find Brett Farve and release him. Then, go to "Free Agents" and sign him to the Jets or any team of your choice.

Use the following trick to re-sign players for less in Franchise mode off-season. When you go to re-sign players, go to your "Player Management" screen first. Change the player that you want to re-sign to another position, such as a kicker or punter (the worst overall possible). Go back to re-sign that player for a lot less. Note: You cannot save the change unless you have enough players at that position after you change the player's position. For example, to change a cornerback to a kicker you must have four other cornerbacks remaining.

Go to "My Madden" then to "Rosters". Go to "Player Management" and go to "NFL Greats". Release whoever desired. Then, go to "Free Agents" and put the desired player on a team. When you start Superstar mode, go to play as a rookie and find your player. If you selected a great, he should be close to the top. This also works if you create a player. When you create a player and put him on a team, he is a rookie. When you go to Superstar mode he should also be there.

Here are some hints for Madden 09 that might help you build a successful franchise

1. Always train palyers that have good potential.
So what I mean is don't train players that are like 65 overall and don't have any sort of skill that stands out(big hitter, cannon arm QB)train guys that have potential like Vince Young or Deshawn Jackson or Jake-Chris Long.

2. Get good at Mini Games.
To train you have to be good at the mini games. So for example if you want good line backers, most of their drills to get them better are related to the running back challenge, so if your good at that you will get good line backers in no time. The 40 yard dash will make all your players faster but can also improve your receiver's route running abilty, and kicker/punter's accuracy.

3. Make sure Quarterback is GOOD
What I mean is that your quarterback should have an accuracy rating between 86+ and a throwing power rating 94+.Awareness isn't to important because the QB's play good enough without it.But just to let you know the rating doesn't mean too much because I remember in my franchise the Vikings had John David Booty as the starter and he made it to the pro bowl at 73 overall.

4. Switch certain player's positions
What this means is that you can edit your player's position. You would do this if you have a linebacker or tight end that isn't that good and probably won't crack your starting lineup anytime soon. So if you switch a LB to the DL(preferably DE) and a tight end to FB that isn't going to be a starter, you might be surprised. Example, Lawrence Timmons 80 overall, Pittsburgh Steelers LB,turns into a 93 overall DE; Isiah Stanback 69 overall, Dallas Cowboys WR, turns into a 77 overall QB(with speed) 5. Draft for future needs Don't try to draft for needs that your team needs now because the rookies you get in the first 3 rounds aren't guaranteed to be 78 overall+(which is about the minimum for a starter most of the time); the draft isn't bad but the players you get are usually raw and need work. So draft for the future and fill your needs with free agents.

So I hope these hints help improve your luck with Franchise mode if your not having too much.

I'll make more hints another time to continue to help you.  | Submitted by Aaron

You can make depth chart changes to help you when training players. For example, if you are training someone on defense, such as a linebacker, go to the depth chart and substitute the running back for someone with a lower rating. This will make things easier when you do the lineman challenge. You can use this trick to help train almost any position.

Use this trick to build up your players in Franchise mode easier. Select a player you want to improve (for example, your defensive lineman). Then, take the slowest player on your team (for example, your kicker), go to "Player Management", and change him to a running back. Then, start him on the depth chart. When you go through the drill you will be tackling the slow kicker instead of someone such as Frank Gore.
