The dragon has a hammer attack which has a range of about his height forward. Stand within range of this attack and keep firing arrows at the dragon's head. The dragon will never move forward. Half the time the dragon will be stamping and does not affect you. At other times, it will use the hammer attack. The hammer attack is so slow that you can easily move backwards to dodge it. Then, move forward again and repeat until the Boss has been defeated. Equip the Quick Draw charm and machine gun fire at close range. Aim at about 45 degrees into the air. You can drop some portals before they have spawned more than a few mobs. Study the spell book for the spells you wish to create. Plan the spells you want before creating any so that you will not have a rune shortage for a more complex spell later.
All spells have a use in different situations. Some spells are best used in combination with other spells. Trinkets will drop from enemy units 1% of the time. The Lucky Charm trinket will increase this drop rate. Select your trinket based on your current situation. For example, if you are using spells with heavy mana cost, use the Mana Regeneration trinket.
