Backup Your Minecraft World
The directory on your computer for Minecraft saved worlds and settings differs depending on what OS you’re running.
On Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
Take note that the AppData directory is hidden, so be sure to show hidden files from within Folder Options.
On Mac OS: /Users/username/Library/Application Support/minecraft
On Linux: /home/username/.minecraft
The "Saves" folder is what you want to back up.
Command Prompt Cheats: Game Mode Switching
In Singleplayer, whenever you press "T" on your keyboard, a command prompt screen will appear in the bottom corner. Use the cheats below to switch between survival mode and creative mode. As long as you clicked "Allow Cheats: On" when creating the world (under the "More World Options" button), these cheats will work. Switching between Survival and Creative modes can be quite useful. For example: If you switch to Creative Mode after a respawn, you can fly to the spot where you died to quickly retrieve your items. You can also switch to creative to prevent death; when you're caught in lava or water, switching to creative will make you invincible as long as you're still in that mode. Creative Mode has every item available through a selection screen, accessible in the same way as the normal inventory screen. You can use it to select an item you need, such as food or weapons, and dragging the item(s) to the "Survival Inventory" tab or the quick access bar.

There are a lot of reasons that you'll want to have a Bucket of Water on your hands (fire, building, farming, irritating friends, making a moat, etc.), but it can get really irritating having to run down to the ocean every tie you want some. Follow this quick tutorial, and you can have a small, endlessly full pool of water wherever you want it.
You'll need an Iron Bucket and the ability to dig into the floor a little.
1. Dig a 2 by Hole in the ground that is 1 square deep
2. Fill your bucket/s with water from the ocean or a lake. You only need 2 deposits, so taking 2 buckets is recommended.
3. Bring the water back to your base and pour 1 Bucket in each corner of the square in the ground.
If done correctly, you should have a still 2 by 2 pool of water. Every time you take a bucket and use it on any of the squares, the others refill it to fullness.
Alternate method you could use: You will need 2 water buckets. Now dig a STRAIGHT line with 3 holes like this: If "=" equals a line, make this "===". Dig 3 holes STRAIGHT and then put 1 water bucket in each end and then get the Water from the middle and the water well keep regening so the water is Infinite.

Some paintings in Minecraft are easter eggs to other games. This is a list of them. The painting with the person that wears a red shirt and white skin color is Graham from the King's Quest series. The paintings with the spider and Graham is the scenery of Space Quest. The painting of the two karate men is from the game International Karate+. The painting of the old arcade version of Donkey Kong is well Donkey Kong.

Teleportation Survival Hint
If you need to mapmaker a secret base on one of you survival worlds, here is how to do it:
Step 1: Create a tunnel to where your base is or where it is going to be.
Step 2: Place temporary ladders into the tunnel. On the first bottom block place any kind of track.
Step 3: Climb the ladders and then delete them. At the top of the tunnel, looking down, place a minecart on the track.
Step 4: Then place a preferred block that blends in with it's surroundings.
Step 5: Try it out. Hold down the block which your minecart is underneath and you should be teleported into the minecart.
Step 6: Fill your base with all your treasures!
