After unlocking Spirit Island and acquire the shovel, try this to get 1,000 rupees easily. First, head to the Spirit Island, where you can destroy all boulders. Then, defeat all of the enemies, and cut down all of the grass. Then, dig around. And finally, enter the cave, break all of the vases, leave the cave, and repeat the steps. Doing this will net you all of the rupees you want… if you're patient.
To acquire the Fire Sword, get ten Fairies. Then, head to the Fairy Princess near the Sun Temple, where you will receive the sword.
Do the following series of fetch-quests to get the Hurricane Spin ability:
1.) Go to the traveler's ship in the northeast section of the sea. Defeat the monsters you find there, and you will receive New Hero's Clothes, as well as a Treasure Map.
2.) Take the clothes to another traveler's ship, this one in the northwest section of the sea, and give them to the man there. He will give you the Kaleidoscope in return.
3.) Take your newfound Kaleidoscope to the traveler's ship in the southeast section of the sea and give it to the man in want of a telescope. He will give you the Guard's Notebook in return.
4.) Take this notebook to the traveler's ship in the southwest section of the sea and give it to the man you find there to acquire the Wood Heart.
5.) Finally, take the Wood Heart to the Old Wayfarer's Ship, and he will give you the scroll which will allow you to learn this technique!
Animal Crossing Reference
If you've played Animal Crossing: Wild World, then you'll recognize a reference in Phantom Hourglass. When you first meet the Postman, you and he will talk for a moment. He'll ask you that you try not to shoot him with the slingshot out of the air. This is in reference to Pete the Postman in AC:WW, who suffers a similar fate that the Postman in PH is trying to avoid!
Beedle always new ship parts
Use the following trick instead of waiting for Beedle to get new shipment of parts. Save the game. Go into the system calendar then change the date. Beedle will always get new ship parts in.
To find Beedle's "Masked Ship", which sells special inventory, you must visit the ship's location between 10pm and midnight on weekdays and between 10am and noon on weekends (depending on your Nintendo DS' internal clock settings). There's valuable items on board, so be sure to find it!
Go on Wi-Fi and play against someone and if you do any of the tasks below, you will unlock a big play. For every four big plays you accomplish, a letter is sent to you telling you to go to Cannon island. When you get to Cannon Island, go to the house and you will receive a Golden part for your ship.

When you enter the mini-game, the high score is 2,500 points. It is impossible to get if you only hit blue targets, and it is the same if you only hit red targets. You must hit the red targets five times each to make 100. The only difficult part is that you will have less time to hit the blue target. If you miss one blue target, you should end up with 2,360 points. It does not matter though, because he still gives you a prize. The prize can be Green Rupee (1), Blue Rupee (5), Red Rupee (20), Big Green Rupee (100), Big Red Rupee (200), Ship Parts, Power Gem, Wisdom Gem, or a Courage Gem. A prize of your choice is awarded if you get 2,500 points.
If you corner a chicken or a group of chickens and begin to hack away at them, they will begin to turn red. When they've taken enough damage, they will attack you! A classic Zelda Easter Egg!
When you face the final boss of the game, Bellum, make sure you have Purple Potions. In his first form, he will first sit in the middle of the pool, spitting drops of sludge that turn into enemies if you do not get hit by them. Equip the Grapple Hook. Grab the purple puddles on Bellum's body while dodging and destroying the enemies he spits out. Then, use the Grapple Hook to bring Bellum to you, then slash away. Repeat this process of grabbing him and striking him until he flies to the second floor. Run up the stairs to the next floor. Equip the bow and arrows and aim for the eyes on his tentacles. Note: The ones with their eye open will attack if you are close. Once they are all shut he will fall to the pool again. Once again, equip the Grapple Hook. Grab the puddles on him then grab him. Strike him as much as you can until he gets up. This time he will go to the third floor of the structure. Follow him up then take aim. He will use more devastating attacks this time. For one, watch for his tentacles to all raise up. When this happens, stand behind a pillar to avoid taking damage. His tentacles will be harder to take out because the eyes on them occasionally close and your arrows will not hurt them. Continue dodging and shooting his tentacles until they are all out again. Watch the intermission sequence, then go to the first floor. Once there, the steps will break away and Bellum will begin to attack. Celia will then make a Phantom Sphere for you. To use it, tap the circle in the bottom center of the screen then draw a figure "8" within the frame that appears. If done correctly, time should stop for a while. Time it to where Bellum is rampaging in a circle with his eye open. After you do that slash at his exposed eye. Repeat this until he is defeated.
After the first battle and intermission sequence is over you will have to face Bellum on the seas. Use the stylus to aim and fire your cannon. To defeat Bellum, shoot the eyeball puddles on the ship. Because you cannot dodge most of his fire, shoot his blasts before they reach you. Watch out for torpedo-like fire that travels underwater. In this case, you can either jump over it or shoot it. Continue to shoot the eyes out until three eyes extend from the deck of his ship. Shoot these eyes to end this battle.
After you complete the ship and intermission sequence save the game when prompted. At the start of the battle, use the Phantom Sphere and run towards his back. Once the time expires and after the intermission sequence, Bellum's back will be shown on the top screen. Dodge his attacks and quickly run in. Strike him, though he will only block them. After a few hits he may jump to the side. If this happens, do not let up on him. Continue to strike him without any hesitation. After a few more hits you will be prompted to rapidly rub the touch screen. Rub the screen until his guard breaks, then hit him so that he falls to his knees. Catch the Phantom Sphere Celia makes for you then dodge his attacks. Note: You can bring him to his knees as many times as desired. This helps you stock up on Phantom Spheres so you will not have to collect one after every use. Watch the top screen and wait for the eye to open, then activate the Phantom Sphere. Note: You can still move Link when the frame appears onscreen. Freeze time and strike his back. Repeat this process until he is defeated.
Use the following trick to defeat the Bellum Knight (third form). Make sure you have yellow potions. When you stop time and go to his back, his eye will be covered. At this point, Ciela (The Courage Spirit) will get taken away from you. Stand in a corner and start attacking him rapidly. When he jumps to your side, dodge his attack. Attack him once more to get caught in a clash. Overpower him and attack him again. Wait until his eye is open and stop time. Start striking him in the eye multiple times. After doing this three to five times, he will die.
Look on the map. You will see the three people Blaaz turns into. Each one will have a certain amount of horns with the boomerang. Hit them in order from least to greatest and they will become Blaaz. Hit him with the boomerang then hit him with your sword and repeat.
Go to the northeast ocean. Go to the Traveler's Ship. Kill the enemies there, then exit. The Man Of Smiles will come out and give you the Hero's New Clothes (if you have not been there before). Do this again and you get a Prize Postcard. Put it in the mailbox and you will get a prize. Note: If it says that you won, you actually did not win. If you lost, you won.
When traveling the ocean you may encounter a jellyfish-like creature that hovers high above your ship. When this happens, do not hesitate to shoot it. Each hit is worth one rupee. After about ten to fifteen hits it will multiply, giving you double the rupees if you aim correctly. Once it multiplies, the copies will begin to descend into the sea. Keep them afloat by shooting and hitting them.
Once it is open, take all of the ship parts and treasures you have doubles of to the Collector on Mercay Island. This is an easy way to get rupees. Do not take your Pink Coral there. There is a travelers ship filled with men with telescopes. A person there will buy the coral for a lot more than the collector.
Go to the Traveler's Ship in the southwest ocean. Kill the enemies there, then keep tapping on him to talk (if you have never been there before). He will give you a gift once a day for saving him. Save the game, then turn off the DS. Change the system date, then save him again. He will give you more than one gift (at least three). Sell everything you get except Pink Coral to the treasure teller. Go to the traveler's ship in the southeast ocean and sell your Pink Coral there.
When you get to the northwestern part of the sea if you go to the 2nd temple and find a crack in the wall and use the bombs you will find another one of wayfareres studies if you look at the map it will show 2 xs on these xs are islands now the one closer to the south has a secret if you go there and ask one of the five statues it will give a riddle the first one is a rudder the second one sprays the third on paddles and the other can see now if you draw the island out on your map it look like a giant whale the tail is first (acts as a rudder) the water coming from its blowhole is second (the second sprays) the third is its fin (paddles) and the third one is its eye so if you want to do it without drawing do east, north ,south and then west in that order then a bridge will appear go in there and talk to the giant golden frog it will give you an item that will harness the power of the cyclones. |
Submitted by CurtizEfficient Rupee Accumulation
A great way to accumulate rupees fairly quickly is to head to the Dee Ess Isle (which is an island on the map suspiciously shaped like a Nintendo DS Lite) once the Goron Game is available. Winning this game is easy once you've done it enough times, and going through the course given in thirty-five seconds will net you all sorts of goodies. Sometimes, you'll get 200 rupees as a reward, which is good enough, but you'll also sometimes get items, such as Zora's Scales (which you can sell for 800 rupees), or Coral (which you can sell for a whopping 1,500 rupees).
Eventually if you catch a loovar it will have a smaller fish attatched to it. This will open up annother fish slot. The fish dosen't appear in any strategy guide. |
Submitted by komododragon767Fake Link rewards and Windwaker spoof
In the northwestern area, sail to the traveling ship and climb aboard. Talk to the "Doppleganger" and he will tell you that his boat's name is "The Prince of Red Lions". Also his uniform resembles Link's but with a few tweaks. He will the take you as an apprentice and challenge you to a fight. Leave and re-enter the ship. Fight him again and make more hits than last time. Exit and re-enter again. Fight him and make as many hits as you can. Under 100 hits will earn you a spoil (for example, Pearl Necklace, Princess Crown, etc.). Get more than 100 hits and you will get a Heart Container. Aim for 150 or higher.
If you haven't yet challenged Jolene to a final duel, go and find her. Battle her a couple of times. You will be rewarded with a large red rupee (worth 200 rupees) each time you do. This is especially useful for buying all of the 1,000 rupee items at Beedle's and the Island Shops.
When you are looking for the Yook, the Yook is Aroo.
Free ship parts and treasure
Enter the Temple Of The Ocean King and kill all phantoms on that floor (except for floor B5). A chest will appear, giving you a free ship part or treasure.
When you enter the ghost ship for the first time in the northwestern sea (after you have collected all three spirits, Power, Wisdom, and Courage) go down the stairs. Defeat the enemies. The blue flame will extinguish. Talk to the girl in red. She will ask you to find her three sisters (one on each floor). When you find the girl in yellow (the second sister you will find), she will say that there are two treasure chests. Insist to take the one on the left. She will ask if you know which one is left. If you select "Not really" she will say "You silly boy, left is the one that isn't right". If you take the one on the left you will get a ten Rupoor, another Reapling will appear, and the girl will laugh and say "TEE-HEE! how unlucky for you."
If you manage to become a VIP Member of Beedle's Shop, you will get 40% off of all of his merchandise. Occasionally, he'll have golden ship parts available, which will be much more affordable than usual with a 40% discount.
Hourglass Castle Challenge 1 boomerang
On the second basement floor, you are required to get a key (like on the previous floor to continue). Instead of doing the entire puzzle on that floor, make the key appear by hitting the two globes and make the fire disappear by pulling the lever. Make your way to the red blocks that are blocking your way. You should be able to see the key behind the wall. Stand above the third red block from the left. Face northwest and pull out your boomerang. You should be able to get the key by starting an oval and going counterclockwise from Link all the way to the key and back to Link. Note: This may require several attempts. The boomerang should travel from Link's hand, above his head, through the wall above the spikes, over the spikes, get the key, then go through the wall where Link is standing and bring the key to him.
To fly, you must find a chicken(in Merkay Island and Molida Island) and grab it and jump off a ledge, you will jump a high distance. With this tip,you can gather treasure in places you can't go to. |
Submitted by Arceus500Here's an easy way to get as many rupees as you desire. While sailing the seas, you may from time to time encounter jellyfish-like creatures. When these are encountered, the ship should be stopped (though they will follow the ship even if you don't stop). Shoot these foes with the cannon (the cheapest cannon for your craft will only cost 50 rupees). When they are killed, they will drop a green rupee. Since they split apart when shot, you will be able to get multiple rupees per creature. Keep riding your ship around finding more of these creatures, and you can accumulate a good amount of rupees, as many as you'd like.
Mercay Islands: Reaching the chest
Travel to Mercay Islands. If you go southeast on the east side of the island you will see a treasure chest. You cannot reach it by jumping. Find a chicken. There are two of them on the island. Go back to where you see the treasure chest. Back up slightly, then run up and jump. You should be able to reach the treasure chest and obtain the crown that was passed down from the Zoras from generation to generation.
Neptoona is a fish that the old wayferer was looking for, if you wantto look for Neptoona,it will take some work to find it, Neptoona happens to be a sword fish and he is in the sword fish shadows, if you notice, when you look at the sword fish,Neptoona looks in a black colored form. Neptoona is really hard to reel in, but he is usally in the southwest and northwest
areas in the sea. |
Submitted by Arceus500If you head to the southwest part of the map, you will find an island that looks suspiciously like a Nintendo DS. The name of the island will reflect this as well.
After obtaining the Phantom Sword, head to the Ocean King Temple. If you head to the middle area of the temple, you can fight Phantoms, destroying them by targeting their weak points with your sword. In room B7-9, after all of the Phantoms are defeated, a chest will appear with a ship part within. You can then go up the next three floors to get 100, 200, and 300 rupees. You can sell the part you got for more rupees if you desire. You can then be done over and over again, as needed.
Beble's ship can only be accessed once a day; if you buy everything he has he can only sell you potions. Beble's ship is a great place to get cheap treasure and rare ship parts (depending on the day). Go to his ship. Buy everything he has. Save the game. Turn off the DS. Turn it back on and change the system date. Turn off the DS and resume the game. You should start at your save point. Go to Beble's ship, which should be close. He should have more or new stock.
The Red Pots that you see create small spots to hide from the Phantoms. These are very helpful when you're on the run from a Phantom. |
Submitted by FireElementLordWhile sailing on your ship you will encounter enemy pirate ships. If you destroy all the ships in the group, the last ship destroyed will leave a red "X" on your map. This is where you can salvage for a treasure.
OK. To save you hassle the super secret hideaway on molida island is where all the stone tablets intersect.First go to all the stone tablets and mark where they are on the map or if you want its left from the cave by a tree. |
Submitted by AdamIn the northwestern section of the sea, there is an island called Bannan Island, you will see a house in the island and inside is the old wayferer, talk to him and he will mention that there is a mermaid in the island. After you go outside, defeat the enemies on the island and you will notice someone in the ocean and that will be the mermaid, then use the boomerang that you have and target the mermaid and she will talk to you and then respond to her, then after that, talk to Linebeck and he will say that he has seen the mermaid,so go back to the house of the old wayferer and he will thank you and he will give to you a fishing rod to fish on the fish shadows you will see when you go to the sea and try to get a big fish to get multiple rewards from the old wayferer. |
Submitted by Arceus500To grab new parts for your ship, you must fight the character on the ship The Prince of the Red Lion. If in the time given you manage to get 200 or more hits on the foe, he will give you a ship part. You can do this over and over again for new parts.
Use the following trick to get the slate from the frog king that allows you to fly to certain locations. The totems that you must hit in order are northeast, northwest, southwest, and west.

Submitted by Arceus500On Mercay Island, go north of the port. Go up the northern ramp, and scratch your head about the small isle next to you. Go west but not to the Temple. Follow the ridge to a wall of rock that stops you. Blow it up with a bomb. Go in the opening, and cross the seemingly endless bridge. Exit to the small isle, and hop off the small ledge to a switch. There appears a bridge. Go up the few ramps to a guy with a guitar by the name of Freedle. Talk to him and unlock Tag Mode! |
Submitted by MatassassinThe Skeletons that you may see in the Temple of the Ocean King and possibly even other temples give you helpful hints to get past that portion of the game. Eventually, the three Skeletons in the first room of the Temple of the Ocean King will give you tips for fifty rupees each. |
Submitted by FireElementLordIf you're having difficulty jumping to certain areas and need a little extra boost, try jumping with a chicken in Link's hands. This will further your jump ability, allowing you to travel further than you otherwise would.
Time Manipulation and Money
Locate the Traveler's Ship (the guy who gives you all of the treasure). Kill all of the enemies on board his ship, and then talk to him. After receiving the treasure, exit his ship and save your game. Turn off your DS, turn it back on, and head into the DS settings. Adjust the time and date (moving it forward one day, for instance), and restart your game. Return to the Traveler's Ship, repeat the same process as before, and you'll receive more treasure. Stock up using this method, and then go sell all of your goods. You can get 9,999 Rupees easily in about twenty minutes doing this.
The Yellow Pots you see give you extra time in your Phantom Hourglass, even if you're in a room where the time has stopped. |
Submitted by FireElementLordClimb aboard the ship called The Prince of the Red Lion, where a character suspiciously similar to Link can be found. You can fight him if you want, over and over again. Earning a certain amount of hits on him will net you new items. For instance, scoring under 100 hits in the time allotted will net you an item like a Pearl Necklace, or a Princess Crown. More than 100 hits will get you a better item, like a Heart Container.
