There's only one Aeorodactyl in Pokemon Gold. But, it isn't that hard to get. All you have to do is catch a Chansey and trade it to the girl on Route 14. |
Submitted by DREWDid you know that there are Pokemon hidden in Gold/Silver that have alternate colors, aka shiny status? There is no easy way to find them (except for the Red Gyarados in the Lake of Rage) as they appear at random -- but they're out there. If you see specially colored Pokemon, be sure to catch them as they are very rare. You can recognize them by the sparkle effect when they appear in battle, or by checking on the Pokemon Status Screen. Next to the Male/Female symbol, these special Pokemon are marked with three dots. |
Submitted by DennisDreessenFirst, solve the Kabuto puzzle, which you should know how to get to. The rest will require the HM for Surf, found in Enjyu City, TM 08 (Rock Breaker), and the HM for Strength. Surf down by the Ancient Ruins (below Kickyou City) and solve the puzzle there. The puzzles should be somewhat easy. Just put in the corner pieces first. Then, go to the Connection Cave. Walk around and find the Pokemaniac. If you have not defeated him, fight him. Then, Surf in the waters near him. You will have to return here twice. Break the rock you find, and solve the puzzle. Then return, move the boulder, and solve the last puzzle. Catch the different Annon, then exit the ruins. Talk to the scientist near the cave and he will give you a complimentary Annon Pokedex.
While in the Alpha Ruins southeast of Kikyou city go to the Pokegear option in the menu screen. Go to the radio option and on the fourteenth to the twentieth channel you can find a station Called ??????. That is the Ann'oun Music. It can only be heard at Alpha Ruins.
At the Daycare Center south of Goldenrod City on Route 33, you can give a male Pokemon and a female Pokemon to the keepers to breed new Pokemon.
Breed two Pikachus to get Pichu.
Breed two Electabuzzes and you get Elekid.
Breed two Clefairies and you get Cleffa.
Breed two Jigglypuffs and you get Igglybuff.
Breed two Magmars and you get Magby.
Breed a Venonat with a Pinsir to get Pinsir.
Breed a Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee with a Ditto to get Tyrogue.
Breed a Clefairy with a Snubbull to get another Snubbul.
Breed a Gyarados with the Red Gyarados to get a golden Magikarp.
Replace any of the Pokemon with the genderless Ditto if you've only got one of a kind. Ditto will act as a wildcard Pokemon. |

Make your way around the mazes and talk to the karate character that is there. Defeat him and to will get Buruki. Note: Make sure you have an open space in your Pokemon holder.
Celibi is the time travel pokemon. It is better than Mew by far! You can get it at Mall tours or through GameShark. |
Submitted by MichaelIf you want a Pokemon rumored to be a pre-evolution of Dratini (Denryuu), do not try to de-evolve Dratini. Instead, go to the route after Kickyou City towards the Connection Cave, and try to capture the electric sheep, Meripu. Let it grow to level 15. It will evolve into a pink sheep. Train it to level 30 to get Denryuu.
Make sure you know the copy trick. Copy your strongest pokémon in more numbers, if few pokemon get faint, hold the pokemon that goes op a level or experience, to easily defeat each gym trainer, next delete your copies and continue your journey until you face another gym, retry the method again. You can also use the trick fighting your rival, or other type of trainers. |
Submitted by DennisDreessenDuplicate Items/Clone Pokemon
Note: Use this code at your own risk. It may corrupt your save data if done incorrectly.
Go to a PC, and save. Attach the item you want to duplicate to the Pokemon you want to clone. Deposit it into the PC. Change boxes. When the screen is saying "Saving the game..." Turn off your GB. Turn it back on. You should have the deposited Pokemon in the PC, and a clone of it in your lineup. The item will either be on both monsters, or in your Backpack. Note: while doing this code, DO NOT withdraw any Pokemon. When the GB is turned back on, you'll find that the withdrawn Pokemon has been deleted. Note: You can duplicate up to 5 items/Pokemon at a time. |
Submitted by DennisDreessenEnjyu City battle (Gold version)
When you go to Enjyu City, go to the tower and your rival will appear, but will not battle. However, if you first heal your Pokemon at the Pokecenter, defeat the Ghost Gym Leader, and then go to that tower, your rival will talk to you and fight.
To evolve Onix, you need to give it the Silver Coat. I do not know where to find this item, but you need it. The evolved Onix rocks! |
Submitted by MichaelFemale Mr. Mime (Gold version)
Go to Saffron City before fighting Sabrina. Challenge Sabrina to discover that her Mr. Mime is female.
To catch a really rare glitch pokemon that doesn't screw up your game, fly to New Bark Town and go to where your rival stood at the beginning of the game. Press a three times there. Then go to the first patch of grass. Search for about 30 minutes without stopping. Eventually, a pokemon that looks like a mixture of a Mewtwo and a Pikachu will appear. It will be at level 35. You can only catch it with a pokeball and if you use one attack on it it will automatically faint. So throw the pokeball right when you find it. If it doesn't catch it, keep trying. It eventually will. |
Submitted by JC2000Once you reach to Fuchsia city gym. You will see lots of ningas. Only one of them is the gym leader, and the others are fake. To find out, talk to them. If it is the gym leader, it will stay in the ninga suit. If not, it will show its real person and battle you. Tip: The gym leader is the most EASY gym leader in the map. She carries 5 Pokemon and Each are levels 28 to 30. Easy? Fly will do the best because her Pokemon can kill them self and try to hit you. If you are in the air, it has no effect and the Pokemon FAINTS. |
Submitted by AlexanderChowGo to the fourth gym and Surf right all the way. You will Surf in the water, where you should see a Gyarados. Battle it, and it will be golden.
Breed the golden Gyarados with a regular Gyarados to get a golden Magikarp.
Equip the Metal Coat on Onix and trade it to another GameBoy. It will evolve into Haganal.
Go to the city with the fourth gym. Then, go inside the house with another house beside it. Climb up and enter the other big house. Climb up until you get to Hou-Hou.
Go to Pewter City and talk to the old man that walks around. He will give you a gold feather. Then, go to the place where Hou-Hou is located in the Gold version to find it.
Give Gloom a Solar Stone and it will evolve into a Kirehana. You cannot evolve Kirehana into Vileplume.
Enter the cave in the second city and Surf. You should be able to see Lapras. Note: There is only one.
Go to Pewter City and talk to the old man. He will give you a silver feather. Then, go to the place where Lugia is located in the Gold version to find it.
Learn HM06 (Whirlpool) and go to the place where you received the fifth badge. Destroy a whirlpoor and enter the cave. Go through the maze and you will reach Lugia.
Go to Saffron City and talk to the girl copycat. Fly to Vermilion City and talk to everyone in the house where you received the bike voucher. Someone will give you the Clefairy doll. Take it to the copycat to get the monorail ticket.

The person will check for your ticket and you are off. When you are inside, the sailor will block you from going out. You have to do something and talk to him after. When you are out, you will be in Vermillion City. Get the other 8 badges in the other cities. Tip: Vermillion City gym is even harder than the 8th gym in the other map. Train your Pokemon good. |

Solving the Unown Mystery
The ruins of Alph are home to the mysterious Unown (#201), the only Pokemon that exists in more than one shape. Solving the different sliding-tile puzzles will drop you into the ruins below, where you can capture the mysterious Pokemon. In the beginning, you can only access one puzzle (the solution is Kabutop). You can get to the rest of the ruins once you have Surf and Strength. Surf lets you swim to the south cave which contains a puzzle of Aerodactyl. The other two puzzles are reached through the Union Cave using Surf and Strength. The puzzle to the southwest is an Omanyte, while the one to the west is a picture of Ho-oh.
The more puzzles you solve, the more varieties of Unown will be available to be caught. (There are 26 variations in all, one for each letter of the English alphabet. Ruins of ALPH, get it?). Once you have caught at least three different shapes of Unown, go to the Alph Lab just outside the first entrance. You will receive an upgrade to your Pokedex that lets you view and collect the different shapes of Unown.
After you have caught all 26 shapes of Unown, you should return to the lab. Using the machine in the corner, you will now be able to use the Unown shapes to create and print out banners using the "Unown font" (if you have a GB Printer). |
Submitted by DennisDreessenYou can give Apricorns to the Poke Ball maker in Azalea Town to get new types of Poke Balls. Here is a list of what they're good for.
White Apricorn: Fast Ball -- Good for catching Pokemon that try to escape from battle quickly.
Red Apricorn: Level Ball -- If your Pokemon's level is significantly higher than the wild Pokemon's, it will be an easy catch.
Blue Apricorn: Lure Ball -- Good for catching Water types when fishing.
Pink Apricorn: Love Ball -- If the wild Pokemon's gender is opposite that of your Pokemon's you'll have an easier catch.
Black Apricorn: Heavy Ball -- Big enough to catch heavy Pokemon like Snorlax.
Green Apricorn: Friend Ball -- Pokemon caught with Friend Balls will become very attached to their trainer. Good for Chansey (if you want it to evolve into Blissey).
Yellow Apricorn:Moon Ball -- Good for catching Pokemon that evolve with Moon Stones, like Clefairy and Jigglypuff. |

Submitted by DennisDreessenStarting Pokemon (Gold version)
Select one of the following to get your first Pokemon:
Chicorita: a Grass type, like Bulbasaur.
Waninoko: a Water type, like Squirtle.
Hinorashi: a Fire type, like Charmander.
Surfin' Pikachu (without the N64)
First, you have to capture a *male* Smeargle, and a *female* Pikachu. Make sure that the only attack Smeargle knows is Sketch (preferably more than one). Breed them together, and you'll have a Pichu, that hopefully knows Sketch. Evolve it into Pikachu, and then battle a friend w/ the Pikachu in your line-up. Make sure your friend has a Pokemon that knows Surf. Battle the Pikachu and the Pokemon w/ Surf. Get your friend to use Surf on Pikachu. (Make sure Pikachu's strong enough not to faint!) Then use Sketch. Voila! You now have a Surfin' Pikachu! If you want, you can trade it to someone's Pokemon Yellow and then play the Surfin' Pikachu Game at Fuschia! |

Submitted by AlexanderChowGo to the city with the fourth gym and enter the big house. Break the rocks and fall down one of the holes to wake them up. Then, go outside and try to find them in the wild.
First, I will need to say where are the Legendary Dogs. The Lightning one is above of the 7th city WITH the gym. Go to the GRASSY(not water)areas to find it. The Water one is on the left side of the 7th city(GRASSY not WATER). The fire one is on the left side of the 4th city WITH the gym. Go though the guard and go to the GRASSY areas. All of these are level 40. Heres the tip: Each time you see a wild Pokemon, one of the Dogs will change location. So you need to look in your Pokedex and see the new locations they are in. It might be tricky, but its worth it. If you get it, it is like getting instant Level 40. |
Submitted by AlexanderChowDefeat the first gym and go into the Pokecenter. Talk to the scientist and he will give you a egg. After 5,000 steps, it will hatch into Togepi.
There are a couple of Pokemon that only evolve when traded with another trainer. Some trade evolutions also require that the Pokemon holds a certain item when traded:
Kadabra - Alakazam
Graveler - Golem
Haunter - Gengar
Machoke - Machamp
Poliwhirl - Politoed (hold King's Rock)
Onix - Steelix (hold Metal Coat)
Scyther - Scizor (hold Metal Coat)
Porygon - Porygon2 (hold Up-Grade)
Slowpoke - Slowking (hold King's Rock)
Seadra - Kingdra (hold Dragon Scale) |
