Construct a road with as many turns as possible. Place towers in the first third of the road, starting where the attack will begin. This will allow you some time and get some distance between the waves of attacking troops. Position barriers at the start of the loop and set towers on the other side of the road. By doing this, the archers will stop and attack the tower (and possibly get taken out in the process), while melee troops will have to deal with the barrier. If possible, have two towers for each loop and barrier that are positioned. Try to delay attackers as long as possible. If they cannot destroy your gate in time, they will lose the battle. This is the main reason to keep your defenses as far away from the gate as possible. You will give time for your gate to produce as many defenders as possible, while thinning the number of attackers.
