Level 6 of the Old Town chapter starts you off right before a basketball court with the necessary basketball. The easiest way to do this is to aim straight up when kicking, as it will require the minimal amount of horizontal adjustment with each kick. I changed my bindings and moved the kick button to LEFT CTRL, as I found F to be a little unwieldy when moving back and forth. A helpful hint is that you don't have to wait for the kick button prompt to show, so you can kick just before it would be at player height and get it no problem.
