Playthrough Tips

Tip 1: Choose your construction carefully, you will be penalized if you disrupt it prior to completion.
Tip 2: Click on a system directly from the galaxy map to see details about it.
Tip 3: Colonization is a considerable effort in ISG, do not colonize worlds that are not suited for your species if you can help it. You will have more candidate worlds to colonize than available colony ships initially, pick and choose where to expand wisely. Consider the following: Ideal biome first, tolerable second and hostile last, Try and stay within your gravity preference, Mineral richness, the richer the better, Ecology, the higher the better, Avoid nasty specials like meteor storms
Tip 4: Colony leaders are a big help, hire one quickly and leave the ship leaders for later.
Tip 5: Domes offer a less effective but quicker alternative to planetary engineering on hostile worlds.
Tip 6: Don't colonize a world without first exploring it fully.
Tip 7: Esc and right click will allow you to exit from any screen.
Tip 8: Fleets can be selected by clicking the shield icon on the galaxy map.
Tip 9: If you start at the edge of the map choose the space culture advancement that allows you to scan further away.
Tip 10: If you start at the middle of the map choose the space culture advancement that allows you to scan two sectors at the same time.
Tip 11: Med bays are excellent for boosting morale where you need it.
Tip 12: Tool tips are everywhere, if you're not sure about something check the information there.
Tip 13: When exploring try and select the sectors closest to you that contain a star system.
Tip 14: To measure distances use the measuring tool by pressing the SHIFT key. Then select two systems and you'll be shown the distance between the two in parsecs. Press your mouse right button (or the Esc key) to switch off the measuring tool.
Tip 15: Support ships are a great way to jump-start production in the early game, you get a free one once you research the appropriate tech.
Tip 16: Maximizing infrastructure on newly built colonies is a great way to accelerate their growth. Set Infrastructure to 100% until you gain a few levels, then you can consider buildings structures.

Complete the indicated task to unlock the achievement.

Achievement	How to unlock
Aficionado	Obtain access to three minor civilizations of a single category at the same time.
Alien Paradise	Have an empire of ten or more colonies on non-Ideal planets to your species with optimal ecological level (eco-3).
All-in	Have access to at least twenty strategic resources of one kind.
Any Means Necessary	Perform a Sabotage (destroy asset), Espionage (steal tech), and Psy-ops (influence leader) action against a single empire in the same game.
Archaeological Destiny	Have colonies in seven planets with ruins using the Unbridled Power evolution perk.
Bend The Knee	Force a rival empire to sign a surrender pact with your empire.
Besieged	Successfully invade a colony without any losses on either side by sieging the colony until it has no ground combat strength remaining.
Best of the Best	Level a ship's crew to ultra-elite rank.
Blast and Board	Capture a ship in combat.
Carrier Commander	Bring at least six ships equipped with strike craft squadrons and at least two Titan ships with the Command Carrier ability to a battle.
Comply or Die	Win the game by forcing all other empires into a surrender pact.
Coordinated Strike	Capture or destroy two rival homeworlds in the same turn.
Crash Course	Deal a total of over 5000 damage in a single game using the Death Wish evolution perk.
Culture Rush	Complete a space culture branch before turn 175.
Death Blow	Eliminate another empire from the game.
Defensive Network	Protect at least eight colonies at the same time with the Capital Defense Force using the Supercolony evolution perk.
Democratic Approach	Win the game via election.
Direct Hit	Destroy a same or heavier ship class than yours in combat while it still had its full shields or its armor at 100%. Hint: A one-shot kill isn't a guarantee. You need to get through shields, armor, or both.
Distrust and Verify	Have a deep cover agent spy on another empire.
Dream Team	Employ at least six leaders with all secondary skills at the expert level, three of which colony leaders and three ship leaders at the same time.
Euphoria	Achieve +100% Morale in a Colony.
Excavator	Search ruins a total of twenty times in a single game.
Full House	Have fourty population on a single planet.
General Contractor	Obtain maximum infrastructure level in a colony.
Genesis	Use Planet Construction to create a planet in an asteroid belt, another in a gas giant and another in a Barren planet in the same game.
Indistinguishable from Magic	Possess at least three unique technologies.
Jolly Roger	Acquire the legendary Scourge of the Stars ship.
Judge, Jury and Executioner	Use the Investigation unique ability to catch at least three spies operating within your empire.
Like it Hard	Build a colony in a hostile world as your first colonization in a game.
Meddler	Frame an empire for your spy actions four times in a single game.
Only Way To Be Sure	Destroy at least fifteen enemy colonies via bombardment in a single game.
Out of Time	Find and hire Epocholon, the enigmatic prognosticator of the future.
Paradise Made	Have an empire of ten or more colonies on Ideal planets to your species with non-optimal ecological level (not eco-3).
Protection Racket	Receive tribute from at least four other empires in a given turn.
Riches from the Sky	Have five active exploitations in asteroid belts at one time.
Scientific Settlers	Generate ten free colony ships via research breakthroughs using the Boundless Breakthroughs Evolution perk.
Second Look	Explore a ruins site twice.
Starship Collector	Bring a fleet to battle which includes ships from at least five different fleet sets.
Stellar Furnace	Bring at least five Titans with the Stellar Blast titan ability to a battle.
Strategic Hoarder	Have access to at least seven strategic resources of each kind in a single game when using the 'Resource Surge' unique ability.
Sudden Death	Eliminate another empire before turn 75.
Survivor	Survive being at war with at least four empires simultaneously for 25 consecutive turns.
That's a Spaceship	Discover and acquire a unique ship from searching ruins with a leader with the explorer skill or the observant trait in the exploring fleet.
The Doc	Discover a data core artifact with a leader with the scientist skill in the exploring fleet.
The Singularity	Achieve a combined level of 50 with Android leaders using the Artificial Directive evolution perk.
There's No Way Out	Destroy a fleet trapped in a containment field.
Titan Among Us	Build a Titan class starship.
To Boldly Go	Build a survey ship as your first ship in your homeworld.
To the Slaughter	Sacrifice a total of twenty or more POPs assimilating colonies using the Sacrificial Lambs evolution perk.
Tourist Attractor	Establish and hold at least three outposts in accretion disks, one in each of the dead star types (black hole, neutron star and boson star) with touristic value.
Unbreakable Bonds	Share victory with at least one ally after eliminating all other empires.
Undaunted	Win a game on Impossible difficulty with the Emperor player difficulty against three or more All-Powerful opponents.
United You Stand	Form an alliance with another empire.
Uprising	Have a colony rebel back to your empire.
Victory by Subtraction	Win the game via eliminating all other empires.
Walk The Plank	Find and hire the legendary pirate Ozkarr 'Salty' Threlbad.
Warm and Moisty	Have an empire with at least ten colonies on Swamp planets with optimal ecological level (eco-3) when playing with the Palacean affinity.
Warmonger	Have 10 military ships, including at least two destroyers or better class ships, before turn 70.
Well-Connected	Obtain access to all seven categories of minor civilizations at the same time.
When Everything Is Not Enough	Forge and hold trade treaties with all the other empires (minimum three player game) for at least 50 turns at one time when playing with the Cerixx affinity.
With One Hand on the Wheel	Win a game playing with a custom race with 10 or more point picks to spare.
Wonderland	Build a galactic wonder.
Wonders Never Cease	Control all seven galactic wonders at the same time.
Working Overtime	Rush construction in colonies at least ten times.
Yours is Superior	Be the first in all rankings after all other empires have been discovered.
