To have the ball travel straight, hit it with the center of the paddle. To angle the ball to the left or right, hit the ball with that respective side of the paddle. New power-ups will randomly appear as you progress. Try to collect them as soon as they appear. The explosive and multi-ball power-ups are useful for clearing brickies. When multi-ball is active, the extra balls created do not need to be bounced manually; only focus on the main ball. The finger power up, allows you to send the ball wherever desired. The sawblade power up allows your ball to pierce through bricks. You can have multiple power-ups active at the same time. You can earn bonus points at the end of a level, depending on how fast it was finished. The score multiplier starts at 1.0. Each time the ball hits a brickie, the multiplier will increase by 0.1, to a maximum of 2.0. However when a bounce is missed, the ball will turn red and your multiplier will drop down to 1.0 again. Note that when the ball is red, it cannot break brickies or collect power ups.
