Creating long words and using bonus tiles will result in a large amount of points. The amount of stars you can rank on each level (zero to three) is based on your point total. You will always earn one star for completing the level's objective.
Most levels have random tiles turning into bonus spots at the end, which will then explode for extra points for each letter destroyed.
Chain bonus letters into other bonus letters. Usually a bonus letter will form on the last letter of a word. If this letter remains surrounded by useful letters, keep re-forming the same bonus letter repeatedly. This is easily done with the letter "S".
After forming a word, also consider if you can suffix it with "S", "ING", "ED", and other letters, or prefix it with "PRE", "DE", "RE". Words can be spelled forward or backward and in any direction, including diagonals. Words must be at least three letters in length. Letter tiles are destroyed once they are used. The tiles above will fall into the empty space, and new tiles will appear at the top of the screen. Create a word of at least four letters and one of the tiles will remain on the board and turn into a bonus letter. Tiles that are a solid color will explode when used and destroy adjacent tiles. Tiles that are marked with arrows will destroy the entire row or column of tiles in the direction of the arrows. In some levels, you have to drop quill blocks from the top of the screen to the bottom by clearing all letters below them. You will also have "clear the ink" objectives, that features blue ink on certain locations, requiring you to use a letter in that spot to clean it up. Playing a level uses ten energy points, with it given back if you complete the required objectives. Each chapter has fifteen levels.
