Fish

You have a choice to put different fish in the tank where they can be raised before being sold. Choose better fish to put in the fish tank. There are some fish that become as worthless by doing this. It is worth keeping even the smaller fish that are caught. Because your rod's and reel's durability decreases when used, every fish you catch and not keep is a waste of resources. Only get rid of fish if you are going for big ones or specific types.

Fishing

Aim for specific locations around the fishing area, where you can earn bonus experience points or have the chance to catch a rare fish. If you already have an idea about a good spot to fish, grind that location. Reel in very slowly until you get a bite. Then, begin reeling in quickly while watching the tension bar to keep your line from snapping. You need to lower the tension if it turns yellow and orange. Swipe up and down rapidly on the reel to reel in faster, instead of spinning your finger around the reel. This may help catch some of the more difficult fish, but also makes it easier to snap your line. Keep the "Set the Hook" meter filled to get free reel time on a fish without any tension. This is useful when trying to reel in high-ranking fish. Fill the meter against smaller and low-ranked fish by getting the tension meter almost full, and keep it there. Once "Set the hook" is available, it is retained between levels and will be ready when you are going after a big fish.

Lures

Instead of purchasing better lures when first starting, upgrade your rod's strength stat as high as possible. This will prevent loss of any lures that you purchase. Upgrading the rod's tension as well before purchasing lures. Only spend money on special lures when you are sure that you can catch the rank of fish that specific lure is meant to attract. When you are in a situation where you have hooked a fish that is too strong and must decide to pay to save the lure or temporarily increase strength, or lose the lure, close the app. The next time the game is played, the app will act as if the lure was never lost. However, this will cost one bar of energy.

Upgrades and power-ups

Do not use the pheromone power-ups until you have a setup that can handle bigger fish. Save pheromone power-ups until you are ready enough to handle the increased tension from huge fish. When purchasing upgrades, choose those that are permanent instead of the consumable power-ups. Improving your rods and lures will be more useful in the long run. This will let you lure larger and rarer fish, as some of them will require top tier equipment to be caught.
