Red tiles

Unused tiles begin counting down, and will turn to stone and cannot be used when their timer expires. When a red tile is near a corner or an edge, do not worry about them. If you cannot use all the red tiles on a level, focus on using the ones closest to the center. An open center is more important than clear borders.

Scoring

Use a mix of red, orange, and green tiles to earn a decent score Spelling with red and orange tiles will keep the level open, but will not earn as much as others. The closer a tile is to its expiration time, the fewer points it is worth. Counter this by spelling with a mix of red, orange, and green tiles. Little bears will not add too much to your score. Grow giant bears by keeping the the level clear of stone tiles, especially its center.

Teddy bears

As you progress, you will begin collecting various teddy bears. You can take up to three bears into a new game. Each teddy bear will give a bonus. Use bears that are suitable for the task at hand. For example, use a bear that adds time to the clock for timed levels; use bears that slow the countdown of certain letters in larger levels without a time limit. Do not use more than one bear that cause particular letters to appear more frequently or you will run the risk of getting a level full of letters that have no good combinations. Also, because time bonuses stack, having Jogger Bear and Ninja Bear work together is a good choice. If a bear brings in more points when you use specific letters, consider pairing it with a bear that makes those letters appear more frequently.
