All Songs (Quick Play Mode)

To unlock all of the game's songs for Quick Play Mode, insert the following notes in the Options menu: Yellow & Orange, Red & Blue, Red & Orange, Green & Blue, Red & Yellow, Yellow & Orange, Red & Yellow, Red & Blue, Green & Yellow x2, Yellow & Blue x2, Yellow & Orange x2, Yellow & Blue, Yellow, Red, Red & Yellow, Red, Yellow, Orange.

Bat Guitar

To unlock the Bat Guitar, get five stars on each song during Career Mode on Easy difficulty.

Battle Lou in Easy Mode

To battle with Lou using Easy Mode notes, try the following. When the battle with Lou begins (on Expert Mode), strum without holding any frets down. When you lose, select the Tutorial option at the Game Over menu. Do the Guitar Battle Tutorial and play through it in its entirety. After the "Lesson Complete" message appears on-screen and the next fret board appears, pause the game and exit. This will bring you back to the Lessons menu. From here, press the red button, which will bring you back to the list of songs. The battle with Lou should be highlighted. Choose the song, and Lou's note chart will be set to Easy Mode now. Your note chart will still be in Expert Mode, but Lou's will be in easy mode.

Beach Life Bass

To unlock the Beach Life Bass, complete Co-op Mode on hard.

Beat any boss battle in seconds on expert

First off you have to have 2 xbox profiles. Start GH3 and sign into the profile you dont want to beat the boss on. Go to cheat menu and turn on "No Fail" and "Easy Expert". Back out to main menu. Go to quick play, then choose "Expert" and then choose "Slow Ride". Play like the 1st 10 notes, when you get to the long orange note, click start and go to main menu. Sign out, then sign into your profile you want to beat the boss on. Then go straight to career and go to the boss battle. The computer will miss all his notes and lose within a few seconds.

Boss Characters

To unlock any boss characters as playable character, simply beat them in the game and they will become unlocked.

Characters

Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding character.

Elroy Budvis: Already available for purchase at the store for $10,000.
Lou: Successfully complete the game to purchase Lou for $15,000. Lou comes with his skeleton guitar.
MetalHead: Already available for purchase at the store for $10,000.
Slash: Defeat him in the Boss battle in Career mode to unlock him for purchase at the store for $10,000.
Tom Morello: Defeat him in the Boss battle in Career mode to unlock him for purchase at the store for $10,000.

Distant Visitor Guitar

To unlock the Distant Visitor Guitar, complete Career Mode on Expert difficulty.

Easy "Buy A Guitar Already" achievement

In order to get this achievement easily, use a controller when you sign into the game. If you have completed the game under Hard or Expert difficulty setting with a guitar, just select that difficulty with a controller and the achievement will be unlocked.

Easy "Enlightened Guitarist" achievement

After unlocking "Through The Fire And The Flames", start a career under the Medium difficulty setting. Then, play through the song. When you are done, the "Enlightened Guitarist" achievement should be unlocked. This is much easier and faster than getting a "Gold star" rank twenty songs under the Expert difficulty setting.

To get the "Enlightened Guitarist" achievement without actually getting 20 gold stars on the Expert difficulty, enable the "Unlock Everything" and the "Hyperspeed mode" codes and set it to level five. Go into Career mode and play "Through The Fire And Flames" under the Expert setting. When you fail you should get the achievement.

Easy "Hendrix Reborn" achievement

If you are having trouble playing lefty (or righty), just place a mirror across from the television. The notes will now appear in the direction that you normally play in while actually being flipped on the televsion.

Easy "Meet Your Maker" achievement

Start a match on Xbox Live and play in Co-op mode. Select "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" as a song and the Expert difficulty setting. Fail the song and you will get the "Meet Your Maker" achievement.

Easy "Through The Fire And Flames"

On "Through The Fire And Flames", before you use Star Power, pause Game Play. Hold Back, and resume game play. By doing this, you will not miss as many notes if you are going for a "Five Star" rank.

In the Through The Fire And Flames introduction, before you start wrap a rubber band around Green. By doing this, you will not have to worry about holding Green; it does it for you. Make sure you press the other buttons quickly so that Green can register. If you hold the buttons as you do the hammer-ons, Green will not register, and you will fail.

Easy "Whammy Mania" achievement

Select the "Number Of The Beast" song and tape the whammy bar down. Leave it there for the entire song. Even if it is not moving in and out, it still works. Note: Make sure to hit every long note or you will not be awarded the achievement.

Because it does not specify the difficulty, just play the song on Easy and make sure you hold the whammy bar down the entire song.

Tape down your whammy bar to the guitar controller and play "Number Of The Beast" under any difficulty setting. If you hit every held note you should be awarded the "Whammy Mania" achievement.

Easy "Who Needs The Power" achievement

Play through the song "Cult Of Personality" and make sure you have at least 175,000 points once you get to the break towards the end of the song. Activate Star Power and play the last short sequence of the song. Make sure your Star Power does not run out before it says "You Rock". If done correctly, you should still get the achievement even though you used Star Power.

Easy achievements

Enable the "Unlock Everything" code. Leave the "Cheat" menu and enter the shop. Select your band, or create one if you have not already done so. Once you finally get into the shop the following achievements will be unlocked: Axe Collector (5 points), Track Master (5 points), Got 'em All (5 points), and Burnin' a Hole in Your Pocket (10 points).

Easy battle power survival

When in a battle (either online or in Career mode), if you are playing against your opponent under the same difficultly setting, when they attack you with their battle power, look at their side of the screen. The notes will be the same and easy to see.

Easy Online mode

During an online vs. match (Face Off), the meter bar in the middle of the screen shows who is winning by the most points. To get more points, hold the whammy bar down while you play. The whammy bar gets you more points on long notes, but on short ones it is hard to hit. Hold the whammy bar to get all of them.

El Jefe Guitar

To unlock the El Jefe Guitar, complete Career Mode on expert with five stars.

Everything available in store

From the main menu go to options then down to cheats go to enter cheat. When you are entering the cheats you must hold the frets (G,R,Y,B or O) and then strum them in this specific order:

G=green fret R=red fret Y=yellow fret B=blue O=orange.

Note: no sounds will play when you strum these chords.

Get Track Master or Got Em All but keep all your money

First attain the correct sum of cash to get the stuff normally; then buy them. Following the achievement blip, return to the xbox dashboard but don't return to the game's store menu. Restart the game and you'll still have all the money.

Guitarists

You can unlock Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), Slash (of Guns N Roses/Velvet Revolver), Lou (the Devil in the game), and a character called MetalHead by beating them in the game and then purchasing them for $10,000 (Lou costs $15,000).

Hammering on and pulling off

Hammering On and Pulling Off happens when you can strum on one note and successfully hit the notes that come after it without using the strum bar. Look for the single notes with white rings on top instead of black rings. As long as you hit the previous note, you can hit the next note by pressing the correct fret button. This is especially useful on songs like Cult of Personality under the Hard difficulty setting.

Hyperspeed

To unlock Hyperspeed, go to the in-game cheat menu (found under Options) and insert the following cheat on your guitar: Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Orange, Yellow.

Iron Maiden reference

"22 Acadia Avenue" is a song name by the band Iron Maiden. You can see this in the first venue of Career mode.

Jolly Roger Guitar

To unlock the Jolly Roger Guitar, get five stars on each song during Career Mode on Medium difficulty.

Moon Shot Guitar

To unlock the Moon Shot guitar, complete Career Mode on Easy.

Nemesis 13 Guitar

To unlock the Nemesis 13 Guitar, complete Co-Op Career Mode on any difficulty.

Neversoft Skateboard

To unlock the Neversoft Skateboard, complete Co-Op Mode on expert with five stars.

PendulAxe Bass

To unlock the PendulAxe Bass, complete Co-op Mode on expert.

Performance Mode

To unlock Performance Mode, insert the following notes in the Options menu: Red & Yellow, Red & Blue, Red & Orange, Red & Blue, Red & Yellow, Green & Blue, Red & Yellow, Red & Blue.

Precision Mode

Predator reference

There is a reference to the movie Predator in the song "Helicopter". After playing the song, go to the "More Stats" screen, or to Practice mode and get to the screen where you choose what section to play. One of the sections in the song is called "Get Back To The Choppa!!!" which seems to be a reference to Arnold Schwarzenneger's line in Predator, when they are all running away from the Predator.

Rojimbo Guitar

To unlock the Rojimbo Guitar, complete Career Mode on Hard difficulty.

Saint George Guitar

To unlock the Saint George guitar, complete Career Mode on Medium.

Song Failure Secret Achievement

To unlock a special secret achievement, choose any song during Career Mode and then fail it ten times.

From the Main Menu, go to Options, and into the cheat menu.

Zero Point Achievement

Guitar Hero 3 has an achievement that can get you - points. Its absolutely worthless, but you can still say you've gotten one more achievement. To get it, go in career mode and go to any guitar battle you want. It's doesnt matter which one, but after you enter it, DO NOT accept. Instead, press the red fret button to decline. An achievement message will pop up because you have declined a boss battle.
