Attacking and Defending

You can try out some advanced trips and tricks as well such perform a pick and roll which is a great move to pass the ball to your teammates. You can perform this move by pressing the left bumper and move the player towards the player under your control. This is a great offense move and you must practice to master this move as it helps in keeping the ball secure under tight situations.

You can pass the ball around easily to any player by aiming your throw by using the left analog stick. It is wise to keep close to other team players and not be surrounded by enemy players while you are on the offense. Keep passing the ball between players who have some open space to make some advancement towards the hoop.

If you want to change the player while you are playing defense, you can simply press the A button on Xbox or X button on PlayStation to quickly switch to the player who is closest to the ball. This is again a very helpful feature and one that you should be aware of. Always make this a habit to use this shortcut to choose the player nearest to the ball so you can tackle the opposition in time.

On defense, you should always be aware about the player whom you need to defend. This is made very easy in NBA 2K20 as there will a blue arrow pointing towards the players who has the ball and you should be defending. This feature is very helpful as sometimes you might lose sight of the player with ball among all the activity going on the screen.

You can also raise your hands up to block a player who is trying to score by holding down the left trigger. This will allow you to block the player or his shot while he is in the paint. This is yet another important move that you need to know.

Go to a bad team

There's a little inside joke in sports drafts: no one wants to go to the worst team. Often than not, that team is usually the one ahead of the pack in the draft order as they ranked lowest in the previous season. It could also be the one with the most money to throw around, as bad teams usually have more cap space to work with.ct negotiations.

You're likely to get more playing time, which means you'll get more chances to prove yourself, which means you'll become a starter faster, which means you'll make more money. Your dream might be to play alongside Lebron James on the Lakers but think about how much money you could make if you were tasked with pulling a franchise like the Detroit Pistons out of mediocrity.

You can still go to a team that has superstars on it and make out OK in the long run (especially when some of those older guys start retiring), but don't even think about joining one with a star at the same position as yours unless you like riding the pine.

Only buy what you need

If you're not going to be spending any real money in MyCareer, then it's important to be smart with your VC. (On the flipside, if you're not interested in grinding for the VC, then be smart with your real money.) Especially in the early going, you'll want to use every point of VC you get to improve your character's ratings and abilities. The shoes, tattoos, jewelry, haircuts, and all that other stuff will tempt you for sure, but there's no sense in being a well-dressed basketball player who can't exactly play basketball.

Wait for an Opening

Don't always go for shots if it's going to end up with you losing possession for the ball. Sometimes, the best tactic will be to just pass the ball to nearby teammates and then wait for an opening so that you can get an easier shot.
