Remain in the middle and move up and down to take out as many enemies as possible. Leaving the middle will result in you becoming cornered. The toughest enemies usually appear through the middle.
Power-ups
Try to collect all the power-ups that appear, especially the hearts, shields, and time slowing varieties.
