In combat, tap and hold the attack button to power-up your sword attack so it does more damage. However, because this takes some time to charge and more time to execute the powered-up attack, you will be vulnerable to your enemy for a longer amount of time. In some situations you may be better off with faster low damage attacks while being able to block.
Dire wolves
In the starting area, you will have to deal with dire wolves. Notice that when they attack, they will rear back before trying to bite you. Wait until their pounce animation is almost over, then dodge to avoid the bite. You can also block the entire attack.
Gold
Complete the achievements to earn gold or occasionally some gems. Hidden treasure can be found by looking for a glittering animation. Approach and tap the glittering object to find the treasure. Fight low-level enemies and quickly defeat them to earn some gold as well as experience. Interact with various things to earn small amounts of gold. For example, chase rabbits into holes then tap the rabbit holes.
Restoring health
Return to your camp site and pay a small amount of gold to rest to restore all your health. When between fights, search for healing herbs to regain 4 or 5 health.
Shield
Blocking will your shield will absorb most attacks. However, it will take damage depending on the strength of the attack. When it gets too damaged, you must spend gold to repair it before it can be used again. Instead of always relying on your shield, consider dodging to avoid attacks. Dodge in the direction of the attack. For example, if a monster attacks from the right, side step to the right.
Treasure
After you find the first piece of the Amulet of Life, digging at glittering mounds will give you a chance of finding amulet and rune pieces.
Upgrades
Save your gold to upgrade your armor to gain more health, your weapon to have stronger attacks, and your shield to make it last longer. Because you will lose gold if you are defeated in battle, upgrade whenever possible to avoid losing it.
