At the Sega logo, press: Up, Down, Up, 2, 1, Right, Left, Up, Down, Up, 2, 1, Right, Left. If done right, you'll hear a "Whoosh". Now, pick a new or saved game, and before starting, you'll be presented with the debug menu.
Expert Mode
First you need to have a saved game with the game completed, then turn on the game, and at the Sega logo, press Down five times. If done right, you'll hear a "Whoosh". Now start a new game, and before the game begins, the narrator will say the "journey will be more difficult". Alternatively, you can use the Debug Mode code and turn on the "Game Completed" option, then pick the "Reset" option to go back to the Sega logo where you can input the code.
Music Test
First you need to have a saved game with the game completed, or you can use the Debug Mode code and turn on the "Game Completed" option. Then, to access the Music Test, either start a new game, or pick a saved game, and before the game starts, press UP + Start.
Rename characters
Enter a name for the main character if you wish (default name is Ian), then put the cursor on ''END'' hold the Start button and press button 2, the next character will appear, give him a new name, then put the cursor on ''END'' hold Start and press 2 again and the third character will appear, so just do it again for the third character and so on. Once all characters have been named the game will start.
Turbo Mode
At the Sega logo, press: Left, Right, 1, 2, Up, Down, Up, Up (if done right, you'll hear a "Whoosh"). Now everything in the game will flow faster (text, battles, movement).
