Avoiding attacks

Attack, then move out of the way from a monster's attack. Learn the monster's attack patterns. A monster's special attack usually has a clue that will alert you just before it is executed. Immediately move out of the way when you know a special attack is incoming. If you hit a monsters just before or after their attack animation begins, you may interrupt it. Some drawn out attacks cannot be interrupted, but you might be able to kill the monster with a quick series of attacks before they are able to execute it.

Gold

Try to gather as much gold as possible by exploring each level fully. Forges and gold stashes may be hidden in some locations that may be easily missed.

Power attack

Holding the standard attack button to charge a power attack. Power attacks do more damage and usually hit more than one enemy at once. Use power attacks when multiple monsters are attacking from multiple directions. Power attacks can kill or knock back multiple monsters. Make sure you are aimed correctly while charging a power attack.

Upgrades

There is no need to save gold for more powerful upgrades because you must have lower upgrades to progress. Always spend your gold as needed on upgrades.

Combo (500 XP)Power attack an enemy right after inflicting a normal attack.
Desperate Light (1,000 XP)As the Adventurer, defeated 5 enemies in a row using only your lantern.
Divine Luck (1,000 XP)Get to the next floor while at critical health.
Elegant Solution (1,000 XP)As the Rogue, defeated 5 enemies in a row using only dashes and backstabs.
Fighting Dirty (1,500 XP)As the Cultist, blinded 5 enemies at a time, then defeated them all without taking damage.
Gift Giver (3,000 XP)Buy six Gift upgrades.
Golden Adventurer (2,000 XP)Defeated the gold boss as the Adventurer.
Golden Cultist (2,000 XP)Defeated the gold boss as the Cultist.
Golden Mage (2,000 XP)Defeated the gold boss as the Mage.
Golden Rogue (2,000 XP)Defeated the gold boss as the Rogue.
Golden Spellsword (2,000 XP)Defeated the gold boss as the Spellsword.
Golden Warrior (2,000 XP)Defeat the gold boss as the Warrior.
Hat Connoisseur (5,000 XP)Collect a ridiculous amount of hats!
Knockout (1,500 XP)As the Adventurer, stunned a strong enemy 4 times in the same fight.
Magic Eater (1,500 XP)As the Spellsword, used a scroll to nullify 3 enemy spells at the same time.
Nemesis (500 XP)Die to the same boss as 4 different characters.
Scatter to the Winds (1,000 XP)As the Mage, nullified an enemy magic projectile using the Gust ability with the starter robe.
Selfless Gift (1,000 XP)Buy any Gift upgrade.
Seven in One Stroke (1,000 XP)As the Spellsword, struck 7 different enemies with a single power attack charge.
The Thresher (1,000 XP)As the Cultist, defeated an enemy with a stab and point-blank dagger throw in a row, twice.
