Clothes

Choose two pieces of booster clothing and maximize them, for example one hat and one suit. Spreading upgrades across costumes is difficult because you can only wear two items at once. The only reason to upgrade multiple items is to get multiple different Special abilities for use. You can only have one Special on an item at a time, and upgrading it with a different one will replace the current Special. You can begin adding Specials to an item after you upgrade it twice.

Coins

Coins will appear on the stage select and world map screen occasionally. Tap them to receive five coins each. Earlier maps may have two coins at a time, while later maps sometimes have three. If you wait at the map screen after collecting all the coins, new ones will appear about ten seconds later. However, if you enter and exit a level or enter the world select screen and exit out, the coins will reappear immediately. Note: Using the map select screen is faster than entering and exiting a level.

Diagonal moves

Early levels only need straight lines and corners. However, you will have to become skilled with diagonal moves as levels increase in difficulty. Use the square floor tiles to help track where a diagonal move will take you.

Energy

When starting a level, you can check your energy timer. One Paw of energy is required to play each level. When you are out of energy, you have to it to recharge or purchase more. Paws recharge at a rate of one every ten minutes. To see your current recharge status, enter a level and examine at the "Entry Fee" box. It lists how many paws are required to play that level, and the bar below it shows how many paws you currently have. Each filled silver box is one paw, and each empty gray box represents a paw that has been spent. The leftmost empty gray box shows the current charge as it slowly fills with light gray. If you have no paws remaining, a countdown timer will appear, showing the amount of time needed until you get your next paw refill.

Finding paintinggs

To locate where paintings are on the walls easier, look for the lit wall sconce that lights the floor in front of them. That light is unique since other wall objects do not emit light.

In-game hints

When you use a hint, it will show you the first two moves of the level. If you use a second hint, it will show you the next two moves. Additional hints will show the next two moves. Even if you have already collected most of the paintings on a level, the hint system will use that order, showing you steps you have already completed. If you use a hint and fail a level later, the hint arrows you have unlocked will still appear during your next attempt. If you have multiple hints active on a single level, the next set of arrows you should follow will be highlighted in yellow. Hints are dark green as they are drawn, then fade to light green until they are the active hint before turning yellow.

Killing patrons and thieves

On levels that require Rory catch thieves, remove patrons, or deal with people, use hazards such as laser beams and pop-up blocks to help get rid of them. Turning a laser on while a patron is walking through it will remove them, as if Rory has hit them. Use hazards to save moves and time, and earn more bonus coins.

Rage mode

When you choose to skip a level, Rory enters Rage mode. You can tap any square and Rory will jump to it directly. During this mode, coins will throughout the level. Rage mode will expire when the thermometer is emptied. When this happens, the level will be marked as completed. If you collect all the paintings (or complete the level's goal) while in Rage mode, you will complete the level immediately and lose any Rage mode you had remaining. Instead of working on paintings or meeting the level's goal, so that time to collect coins instead.

Skills

Skill upgrades will become available after you earn a star. In the skill tree, you may have "+1" listed on a specific skill, however you will not actually get its benefit until you reach that skill's star level. This boost requirement varies for different skills: For example, Savvy only requires +2 to reach a star and the first boost (+20% to coins earned) but Intelligence requires +6 before you gain the first boost (+1 extra move during a level). Rory gains one Skill Point every three hours, but can only store five points total. After reaching hit five unspent points, he no longer gains them. Use your points before reaching that limit. The Cunning Skill changes if you are a V.I.P. Purchasing V.I.P. as an in-app purchase removes the paw requirement to play. Because Cunning rewards additional paws, V.I.P.s that invest in that skill will get an increase in the coins that are earned.

Wall marks

Rory will leave a mark on walls he runs into. This lets you know what direction you came from or have already been to. The damage starts as a small crack, that turns into a larger bear head-sized crater after the same location has been hit multiple times. Laser beams will leave a large, black scorch mark that remains the same for the entire level. Because lasers cycle on and off every move, use those marks to know where the laser will hit the next time it turns on.
